Sheila Wright, MSN, RN is the Health Ministry Coordinator Mecklenburg and York Counties with the Faith Community Health Ministry of Atrium Health.
The Faith Community Health Ministry (FCHM) Department began at the time CMC-Northeast in 1997 partnering with faith communities in the Cabarrus, Rowan and Staley Counties. Because of its success Atrium Health expanded the program to include faith communities in Mecklenburg County in 2010 and now is located in 11 counties.
In her role as Health Ministry Coordinator, partnerships with faith communities are formed to help establish health ministries through a faith community nurse or health promoter model.
In these models, health promotion, education, spiritual care and health prevention is provided.
This year in 2020, Sheila celebrates her 19th year at Atrium Health.
She has over 37 years of nursing experience in various areas such as medical-surgical, orthopedics, utilization review, Medicare and Medicaid peer review and primary care physician nurse in an internal medicine practice.
She has her Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in Global Public Health and is a certified Mental Health First Aid instructor for the Adult and Youth version and a facilitator for Living Healthy with Chronic Pain workshop.
